Sports and cultural events held in Kalyanpur Porabosti slums

IED organized cultural programs and sports in Kalyanpur slums with the aim of strengthening the social environment, unity, peace and solidarity. Sanchita Talukder, Coordinator of the organization, inaugurated the event.

The event held at 3 pm on February 12, 2025 at Beltola Ground in Porabasti, was facilitated by the Tarique Hossain, Coordinator of IED. Kalyanpur CBO leader and Community Forum member Md. Bellal Hossain, and Anjumanara Begum, Manager NDVAS were present as guests.

Teachers working at the Subarna School working in the slum, members of the IED-organized women’s group, youth forum, adolescent girls’ group, and their families, as well as a large number of men and women from the slum participated in the event.

The program was divided into two parts: cultural and sports. There was running competition for the girls’ team and youth forum, and football striking for the women’s team members. Three participants were declared as winners sequentially in each game. After the sports, the girls and youth participated in a cultural program.

The cultural program became lively with songs, recitations and dances performed by the members of the adolescent girls’ group, youth group and women’s group. At the end, the prizes were distributed among the winners by the organization’s Senior Coordinator Md. Hamiduzzaman; Coordinator Tariq Hossain and Assistant Coordinator Ahmed Sharjin Sharif.
