Santal women’s sports and cultural festival in Gaibandha

Santal women’s football competition and cultural festival was held in Gobindaganj, Gaibandha on January 27, 2025, with the slogan ‘Come change the country, change the world’. It was jointly organized by Janaudyog and Adivasi-Bengali Samhati Parishad at Taltala ground in Katabari Union of the upazila, in collaboration with the Zilla Parishad.

The program was presided over by Golam Rabbani Musa, the convener of the Sadar Upazila of the Adivasi-Bengali Samhati Parishad, and was addressed by the Chief Executive Officer of the District Council, Md. Abdur Rouf Talukder; UNO Syeda Yasmin Sultana; Katabari UP Chairman Jobair Hasan Md. Shafiq Mahmud; Wajiur Rahman, convener of the Environmental Movement-Gaibandha; Dr. Philemon Baskey, president of the Sahebganj-Bagdafarm Land Recover  Committee; Prabir Chakraborty, member secretary of Janaudyog Gaibandha, and Gaur Chandra Pahari of the Puja Udjawan Parishad, among others.

Mother Teresa Promila Football Academy and Palo Kishori Club participated in the game. Mother Teresa Academy won 2-0. In the cultural festival, Santal women showcased their own culture through their traditional dance and song performances.
