Bengali settler attacked and set fire at 13 indigenous peoples villages at Taindong of Matiranga in Khagrachory On August 3, 2013. The attack including arson to houses, looted goods, destroyed valuable resources, temples, physical torture on hill people and burnt down the books of school going students. Prior attacking to the indigenous villages and people, the settler Bengali chanting communal message, armed with sharpen sword, knives, paraded to Market area and heading towards indignous villages. Settler Bengali damaged torched at 13 villages and affected 902 families. At 3:00 PM on August 3, 2013 miscreants attacked, torched and vandalized the villages, temples, and monument of Lord Buddha. They (miscreants) looted the valuables resource of indigenous people.

A total of 902 families were victimized by this communal attack. Getting feared, large number of indigenous children, women, girls, and men flew away to boarder area and took shelter no man’s land of Indian state of Tripura. The others whom failed flew to Indian boarder, took shelter in the nearest forest to escape death. Hearing this heartbroken news, project joined it hands with various civil society members to response human rights violation.

A citizen committee formed to assist Taindong victims of Matiranga, Khagrachary. In the meeting committee took decision that citizen committee would visit the affected area and Citizens committee to assist Matiranga victims-2013 visited the spot on 24-26 August 2013. During the visit the committee met with victims, local journalists, local communities and administrations, take photographs of damaged and burnt houses, sitting with local administrations, and handover Taka 2,97,000/- for victims as immediate response.
