In cooperation with European Union, Oxfam, Misserior and Bread for the world-EED a Human chain styled on Democracy: equality or election only? Level playing field for whom? Two political parties only? Women, Indigenous Peoples, Religious Minorities and the Poor also need level playing field and violence free, fearless environment to live as equal citizen and express their opinion has been organized on December 23, 2013 at 11 am at the precinct of national museum, Shahbag, Dhaka jointly organized by Bangladesh Indigenous Women Network (BIWN), ADAB, Kapaeeng Foundation, Sammilito Samajik Andolon, Nari Maitree, VARD, Janoudyog, Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (BNPS) and Institute for Environment (IED). The human chain addressed by Rokey Kabir, Executive Director of BNPS & chairperson, ADAB, Numan Ahmed Khan, Executive Director of IED, Khandaker Ariful Islam, Director of ADAB, Chanchana Chakma, Women leader of BIWN, Dr. Lelin Chowdhur, Khelagor, Nur Md. Talukder, President, College-University Teachers Association, and many other eminent personalities. Through this human chain speakers criticize the countrywide blockade, loots, vandalize, arson attack on religious minorities and indigenous peoples unleashed by Jamat shibir and communal forces and urged the government to tackle this destructive activities with strong hand. Throughout the the human chain orators placed the following demand towards the authority concerns.

  • Stop threat, torture, attack upon indigenous peoples and religious minorities immediately.
  • Administer judicial probe committee to explore the truth behind attack and bring the perpetrators into book.
  • If required special security camp should install at religious minorities and indigenous peoples area.
  • Destruction of Jamat Shibir should control with iron hand.
  • Bring back the migrated peoples from neighbor country with proper dignity.
  • Create fearless and violence free environment where every people lead their life properly and share their thought accordingly.
  • Maintaining communal harmony inter religious dialogue should be initiated.
  • Election centered violence should stop with strong hand
