Fact checking workshop to prevent disinformation held in Mymensingh

Two daylong workshop on fact checking to prevent rumor and disinformation at online was held during October 17-18, 2023 in Mymensingh. And the workshop was ended on October 18, 2023 at Green Point Center in the town.

The institute for Environment and Development (IED) organized the workshop with support of The Asia Foundation.

 

Earlier, the two daylong workshop was started on Tuesday morning. At the first day of the workshop, Sayed Al Zaman, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Media Studies, Jahargirnagar University and Siam Sarower Jamil, Researcher, ICT of IED conducted training on disinformation among the participants. Amir Mohammad Jewel, Senior Reporter of the Daily Ittefaq and Qurush Shahid Hafiz Adnan Riyad, Consultant, were the trainers for the last day. 

The workshop was attended by 25 participants that included media personnel, students from college and university, cultural activists, development researcher and staff of IED.

 

Selina Akter, Councilor, Mymensingh City Corporation; Taherul Islam, Program Manager and Asinur Reza, Senior Program Officer of The Asia Foundation; Nur Nahar Begum, Manager;  Kazi Shakhauat Hossain, Development Officer; Abdul Hakim Parvez, Program Organizer of IED Mymensingh Center attended in the discussion of closing ceremony. Then certificate was gave away to the participants at the end of the discussion.
