In part of raising awareness to conserve nature, protect environment and promote biodiversity, the Institute for Environment and Development (IED) organized daylong open courtyard workshop on combat disinformation to protect and preserve wild animal, biodiversity and environment in Sherpur. The event was held on March 6, 2024 at Rangtia, Sherpur with support of The Asia Foundation.

Mustafa, Member, Elephant Response Team; Hormuz Ali, Staff Member, Forest Department and Babul Ghosh, General Secretary, Bird Conservation Society spoke in the event. With chair of Jyoti Chattopadhyay, Senior Coordinator, the workshop conducted by Mithun Koch, local environmental activist. 

The speakers underscored the importance of protecting wild animal, biodiversity and sustainable environment  for the sake of human being as all living species in this plant are live on interdependently. If the mother earth is under continuous threat, biodiversity loss is rampant and wild animals become extinct then human existences would cease to exist.

About 50 villagers participated in the workshop. The event covered wide range of discussion topics ranging from disinformation, how disinformation poses risk to protect environment, wild animal and biodiversity, roles of village dwellers and forest department.
