Ms Anwara Begum, member of Lili women group at Akua Jublee quarter area in Mymensingh municipality. She lives with husband and a child at small room in the slum. The condition of the room is not good as anticipated. Her father’s name is Md. Abdul Ali and wood cutter by profession. Her mother’s name is Zomila Khatun and a housewife. Her father’s house was in Akua Jublee quarter. She was born in 1989. They are 3 sisters and 1 brother. She is the eldest among the siblings. She has studied to class V. Her father did not continue her study due to financial constraint in their family. At the age of only 13 years, Mina’s father married off her with Md. Khairul Hadi (18), a day labor by profession in 1992. She gave birth of a boy child three years after of her marriage and then again became mother of one daughter further three years later. Her husband earned merely Tk. 3500 in a month which was not sufficient to run the four members family properly. It was difficult for Anwara to continue her children’s education including family cost from her husband’s income.

Later on she was involved with IED organized women group in 2008 which gave her opportunity to get self awareness through attending various encouraging meetings and received hands on training on tailoring. The tailoring training increased her skills. However, she received training on market extension. Afterwards she started her own tailoring business from home purchasing tailor machine. She contributes financial support to her family along with husband’s income. She erected good house for living and continues her children’s education. Not only that in order to make the girl children self reliance, she provides them training on tailoring. After getting training, the trained girls are getting scope to work as paid workers in her centre. She commences clothes business along with tailoring as well. Anwara first started her clothes business from her savings amount of taka 7000 as prime capital. Currently her net capital stands on Tk 40000 (forty thousand). Now she earns Tk. 14000 in month from clothes business and tailoring profession.

At present her boy Md. Anwar Hossain is student of honors first year and daughter Nushrat Jahan pursuing study in HSC. Anwara alone bears all educational expenses of her children. She also contributes financial support to her own family as because the meager income of her husband which is about 4000-5000 taka per month is not sufficient to cover up all needs in the family. Anwara did not lost her strength of mind amid hundreds hardship and misery. Now she becomes a self reliance woman by her own endeavor. She has come forward to make the girl children of area self supported alongside maintaining her own business. She has done tremendous efforts towards the life of girl children making self dependant. So far she provided training on tailoring to 80 women in her area. Now she together with husband and children leads life with happiness. She is really to be called woman of winner in life struggle.
