Ripti and Runa’s high performance boost their confidence
Ripti is a member of the Begum Rokeya Adolescent Group from Charpara area and Runa is a member of the Aparajita Adolescent Group from Akua Jubilee Quarter area. Ripti passed 12th grade and Runa is a student of Class 8 of Nasirabad Dakhil Madrasa. Ripti received self-defense training from the IED Mymensingh Center in 2023 and Runa in 2024.
During the training, they became confident and, took advantage of the opportunities provided by Badal Lal Das, instructor. They continue to practice regularly. With constant practice, Ripti and Runa’s karate skills improved and they prepared themselves for the belt test. Later, they successfully participated in the competition and passed the belt test. Ripti earned a yellow belt and Runa a double belt (yellow and orange).
This achievement boosted their confidence. Ripti dreams of becoming a police officer and contributing to the safety of society.
On the other hand, Runa’s dream is to become a karate instructor, teach girls self-defense techniques, and encourage them to become self-confidence.
They told that “IED has inspired and helped them move forward on the path of this dream. It has not only given them the training but also the confidence, the courage to dream and the path to shape their future. For this, they sincerely thank and express their gratitude to IED.”
Ripti and Runa’s achievements proved that with the right guidance and support, teenage girls can build their own lives and play an important role in the society. It has created inspiration to other adolescent girls at those areas.
