To stay ahead in today’s world, one needs to have technology-based knowledge. Just acquiring basic knowledge is not enough, you need to become proficient in subjects like programming and artificial intelligence.

IED believes that there is no alternative to starting the practice of that knowledge from childhood. Therefore, it is introducing child students to the block-based programming language Scratch under the Creative Learning with Scratch under the Equitable Creative Coding Resources (ECCR) project.

This will help children become interested in coding and learn to understand how computer programming works. A workshop was organized on 27 April 2025 to provide ideas on Scratch program to the students of Government Jamila Ainul Anand School and College in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. Students of class IV and V participated in two sessions of the workshop. At the beginning, IED’s Senior Coordinator Md. Hamiduzzaman and Project Coordinator Tahmina Khan Shaili briefly discussed about the Scratch program. Then the main session was began. Both sessions were moderated by software engineer Nasir Khan Saikat. He introduced the children to the Scratch programming language and gave them examples of how the language is used. Various fun aspects of Scratch are presented to the children through projectors so that they not only have fun but also become interested in programming. He suggested reading the book ‘Scratch Programming for Kids’ to better master Scratch programming. Necessary assistance will be provided in this regard in the future, said Ahmed Sharjin Sharif, assistant coordinator of IED. The school’s physics teacher Prakash Biswas, ICT teacher Shoaib Ahmed, and Baby Nazneen from the English department assisted in conducting the workshop. Md. Mozammel Hossain, Principal of the educational institution supervised the overall event.
